'In Wildness is the Preservation of the World.'
-Henry David Thoreau
This series has grown to become an archive of disappearing landscapes and a preservation project through the traditional portraiture aspect of photography. In essence, we travel where the land calls us, collecting visual stories from the trees. Each of these works offers a poem to the land as it changes form, and as a body of work it’s an ode to the temporal nature of all things.
Joslyn Lawrence and Brian Kuhlmann have been collaborating for over 17 years. Lawrence studied painting and photography at the Kansas City Art Institute, while Kuhlmann brings years of mastery in the craft of commercial and fine art photography.
We love to hear stories about people's favorite places in nature. Please get in touch with us to share yours or to discuss commissions and collaborations.
Song of Absolution has been widely collected over the years and we send each print out with a wish that the trees themselves far outlast the archives.
